Looking for solitude? Stump Pass Beach, on the southern end of Manasota Key offers continuous beach access from gulf to bay. A hiking trail meanders from the restrooms and free parking to the southern tip of the island. A few covered picnic tables can be found at various scenic overlooks. The boardwalk crosses native vegetation and dunes along the beach affording access to excellent shelling, swimming, bird-watching, snorkeling, fishing and sunbathing. Ranger-led turtle walks and beach nature walks are highlighted throughout the summer. Canoe and kayakers can drop in at various points in the parking lot while a boat launch is less than a mile at Chadwick Park. The adjacent waters and grass flats offer exceptional fishing for flounder, snook, trout, redfish, snapper, whiting, sheepshead and tarpon. With limited parking and no lifeguards, you’ll find this park remains peaceful and serene.

Parking is limited – Get there early on the weekend

The vacation rentals on Manasota Key vary from rental homes and condominiums to apartment efficiencies and motel rooms. The atmosphere is that of old Florida with several good restaurants and souvenir shops or there’s downtown Englewood just a bridge away. Manasota Key is not as populated nor as well-known as other places in Southwest Florida. The advantages of this little isle are tranquil relaxation and affordability. RECOMMENDED ACCOMMODATIONS
